Good to know

The Annas Bay Beach House bulk head (concrete foundation) was built in 1957 and the home was soon built in 1958. The lumber to build the cabin was all hand-logged and milled on a sawmill located on nearby land owned by the Hunter family. The property has been in the family for over 100 years, and the cabin was built by hand by the extended family as a place to gather and celebrate. We are sharing our historic family cabin with you as a place to enjoy the Olympic Mountain and Hood Canal views. Watch eagles and blue herons feast on the bounty of the shores. Watch seals frolic and occasionally get a glimpse of Puget Sound orcas. Currently, the tidelands located off the shore of Annas Bay Beach House are used as commercial oyster harvesting lands.

House Rules

HOUSE RULES 1. Please be considerate to your new neighbors by respecting the quiet nature of the neighborhood. Keep the television, radio and other noise down. No loud noise after 9:00 p.m. and before 9:00 a.m. These quiet times are strictly enforced. No stereos or radios outside please. 2. We hope you enjoy the use of the patio, kayaks and beach. No loud outdoor music please. 3. Extra guests and events are not permitted. 4. Clean any spills up immediately. Do not sit on furniture in wet swimsuits or with suntan oil or lotion on. 5. Fires are permitted in the PROPANE fire pit if there is no local burn ban in effect. Please extinguish the fire prior to leaving the area and turn off propane. 6. Please clean the BBQ grill after EACH USE. 7. Garbage and Recycle pickup is on the roadside every other Tuesday. Glass is not recycled, please place it in with garbage. 8. Wash all sand/rocks/dirt off before entering the building using the hose outside. 9. Do not leave trash or food out, because it will attract unwanted pests. 10. Do not flush sanitary products down the toilets. 11. No smoking in the home or on the property. Smoking will result in loss of full damage deposit. If property is left unusually dirty i.e. spills not cleaned, soil spots on carpet or furniture, trash left everywhere, there WILL an extra cleaning charge taken from your damage deposit. 12. DON'T HARVEST THE OYSTERS AND CLAMS WITHOUT PERMISSION/PERMITS: The property is located on a commercial oyster bed which is leased out for harvest to Hunter Farms. However, permits are required in WA for both oyster harvesting and clamming, and there are rules on when and where you can harvest/dig. There are limits on size of clams along with how many you can have. Oysters are to be shucked on the beach unless you have a commercial permit (if you have oysters in the shell around here and don't have proof of purchase you can be fined - like a speeding ticket). There are also times of the year when beaches are closed due to "red tide" (low tides and hot days can cause shellfish to grow a bacteria that makes them unsafe to eat). Or if the Skokomish River is above flood stage, it is also considered unsafe. ALSO, absolutely no cleaning of shellfish (oysters, clams, mussels, etc.) in the indoor sinks, as this will cause the drains to clog. 13. Notify us immediately about any problems or if anything is in need of repair. 14. Do not use any bleach when washing towels or linens. You may be charged for any lost or damaged linens and towels. Please remember not to use sunless tanners or facial products with benzoyl peroxide because it can damage/stain or bleaches towels and sheets. 15. Do not cut driftwood for firewood or have fires on the beach.
